What Do Your Dreams Say About You?

The Nightmare

The Nightmare by Henry Fuseli

Dream –noun: a succession of images, thoughts, or emotions passing through the mind during sleep.

That is what the Dictionary states dreams are, but what do they really mean to us and what can they reveal? It’s always been of interest of me because there are certain dreams we remember and stay with us, while there are dreams that go completely unnoticed. Early pioneers in psychology, Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, first touched on how dreams make a vast impact in our lives, helping us to work out problems in our sleep and discover answers to unsolved issues (although, we won’t go too far into Freud’s other hypotheses).

There are so many dream themes that are frequently encountered with dreamers. A few of them are:

  • Teeth Dreams – Many times, teeth dreams focus around the loss or deterioration of the teeth, but the loss we feel in the dreams is far more lasting. Possible conclusions are loss of control in your life or confronting some fears like change, loss or abandonment.
  • Tornado Dreams - Probably one of the most frequent, but a tornado dream may indicate a disturbance in your emotional health and well being.  A loss of control or a sudden change in your life may produce such dreams. As in real life, tornadoes are dangerous and a tornado dream may indicate anticipated danger in your own life.
  • Falling Dreams – Almost everyone has falling dreams or has at some point. Falling dreams may signify missed opportunities or taking a plunge into the unknown, especially if you are going through life changes.

Dreams shouldn’t always be taken for face value. They should be something to consider and maybe even interpret yourself. While there are excellent dream interpretation sites on the web (Dream Moods is excellent), allow your inner intuition to interpret your own dreams!

Black Mountain has been hosting the Black Mountain Sourwood Festival for over 30 years. It all began back in 1977 with food, vendors and craft booths, even local and regional music groups and entertainment would come out and perform.

What is a Sourwood Tree?

Sourwood Tree is in a clas of it’s own but it comes from the Ericaceae family of healing trees.  Typically Sourwoods blooms around this time of the year and that’s why the Sourwood Festival is celebrated toward the mid or end of the summer.   Pictures of Sourwood Trees
